Class Description: Introduction into kinetic jewellery – Spin Pendant
Join this 8-week beginner and improver jewellery course and learn how to design and create your own sterling silver spinner pendant from start to finish.
A spinner pendant is a tactile, moving piece of jewellery inspired by the idea of a locket, but more open and contemporary in form. The main pendant has moving elements that rotate and interact with the piece, making it both sculptural and tactile. Each side carries texture or design, creating a piece that feels personal, expressive, and almost meditative to wear.
You will be guided step-by-step through traditional jewellery-making techniques including saw piercing, forming, soldering, drilling, and finishing. Starting with copper practice pieces to build confidence, you will gradually progress into working in silver to create a unique, wearable piece of jewellery.
Each week builds your skills, combining technical learning with creative exploration. You’ll develop confidence at the jeweller’s bench while learning how to translate ideas into finished silver work.
By the end of the course, you will have completed a fully finished sterling silver spinner pendant and gained a solid foundation in essential jewellery-making techniques.
This course is suitable for complete beginners and improvers. If you have previous jewellery-making experience, it will be helpful on this course, but it is not essential.
